JB, I can't pull up our archives. Does it work for you guys? Not that there is anything of importance to read there, but I am sure we'll want to be able to do that in the future.
I just received the latest Credenda. It is not posted on their site yet. Nathan Wilson wrote a review of Gods and Generals. I thought it was a good review. It helped to answer a few lingering questions in my mind. I won't spoil the review for all of you by recanting it here, but he says it is not a story (no plot) but rather a reenactment. Director Ron Maxwell's goal was to be neutral in the presentation of north and south and this is why there are no real unsympathetic characters.
JB, I am actually glad Jordan is retiring and I don't feel any sentimentality about it. No question to me that he is the greatest basketball player and much more than that - one of the top athletes of our time. Mike knew when he came back, particularly with the Wizards, that there was a good chance there would be no pumping of the fist in exaltation upon his "next" retirement. I wish he would have left our memories as they were.
I go away for 24 hours and we actually build some archives. I guess I should respond in a few different posts to break this up and to keep from rambling more than usual. I like having this as our own cigar room. We could do as JB suggests, transfer any of this that is Exacuo-worthy over to that site.

In regards to Randy's world, it is more a mental state than physical. Sorry to get your juices flowing there Derek by leading you on to believe an agrarian conversation was in order. I don't think it is that at all, but it is hard for me to pinpoint. It's not an aversion to the city, for if he lived in the city I think he would quite enjoy it or at least various parts of its subculture. Its a world where current events aren't followed and hanging out is of utmost importance. I am trying to describe my thoughts here without seeming condescending, because I really do have an amazement and wonder that he can live that carefree. Not agrarian, but...what?

Sure is boring around here without any posts from Derek.

Randy is to get back with me on the Helen details. I'll pass them on when he does.
